- First Impression
DrakeRock.com is one of those amateur-goes-pro sites, with young guys who look like they haven’t done porn before, and, if you believe what owner Drake Rock tells you, are often straight. On the bright side, there aren’t ads smothered all over the site, and it’s exclusive material. Rock divides his videos into hardcore and softcore (the former has cum shots, the latter, background music). Everything on the site is available to download, and you’re asked to install Adobe Media Player. Some people aren’t going to appreciate having to download yet another media player, and I disposed of it ASAP. I also fidgeted a bit and managed to download straight to my desktop. The streaming equipment is slow, and you can’t fast-forward, at least on my PC. Since these clips can be long—around 35 minutes—that’s a lot of foreplay to sit through. There’s a solid photo gallery of the dudes, and the shots are crisp and clear. If you want a zip file, however, it’s not offered. The videos themselves are high definition, and don’t extend beyond a simple bed-type background. He doesn’t do storytelling. The camera work can be very shaky, and there’s a lot of sound distortion. Then again, you can hear every slurp. The mix of solo and duo clips is about even, and Rock updates twice a week. As for those guys, a few of them are gorgeous, and look like they’re plucked out of the world of Falcon or Randy Blue. Indeed, a couple of them do work elsewhere. Downloading and frequent updates keeps things interesting, and Rock has a Comments section below each clip. In addition to the plot summaries, there are filmed interviews with the models, a blog that also serves as a users’ forum, and an “Ask” section, in which you can ask the models questions, and he posts the answers ASAP. There’s also a lengthy “help” section, dealing mostly with downloading and streaming problems. -
- Overall Impression
The site has a lot of potential and some very hot men. It could use more navigation ease and design, and the softcore section almost seems like a waste of time. If you’re strictly a Colt kind of guy, you’ll be disappointed; ditto a Twink-man. There’s not a whole lot of variety in the types of clips you’re getting, and the guys don’t have or do a lot of variation. I like the un-edited sex scenes, but wish the streaming were a bit more effective so I could fast-forward through them, should I wish. -
